Canada is not America’s attic

My good buddy and former HTG3 member Steve Riat said something that I know that he was joking around and just piling on the friendly Canadian insults in our HTG3 meeting this week in Burbank about Canada being America’s attic.  I know Steve well and have a tremendous amount of respect and we do this, pull each others chain.  Because he is from Hays, Kansas, the belly button of North America and I am sure if collects a bunch of lint in that belly button.  Question for you Steve, is Hays an innie or an outie.  Steve, I love you bro, you are an awesome guy…you know that already.

Now onto to something a bit more serious :-)

Talking about awesome people and truly working as a Go-Giver is Erick Simpson from MSPU.  This guy has a heart as big as the entire state of California.  My family flew down to California yesterday to meet me down her for a few days of family togetherness.  A few weeks ago I emailed Erick about town car services to pick up my family and instead he offered to pick them up and drive them to Burbank.  Totally being a Go-Giver of his time, away from his business and also being stuck in traffic for over 2 hours.  Erick and his family freely gave of their time to help us out.  Are you being a true Go-Giver?  Do you even know what I am talking about?

The Go-Giver is a book that has changed my life!  Thanks to my good buddy Arlin for sharing this with me about a year ago.  The Go-Giver is a business parable about what is takes to make it in business.  Guess what it isn’t about P&L’s, process management, systems, or all that other stuff.  It is about freely giving to others and sharing your strengths with those around you.  They have an awesome blog that you can subscribe to and I highly recommend it.  I will be giving a lecture in Calgary on Nov 20th that you can attend and learn more about the Go-Giver, you can register by going to the Calgary Entrepreneur Meetup site.

What are you doing to be a Go Giver?  Think about that for a second, are you freely giving of your time, your talents and resource to help a fellow person out.  My friends Rene and Jeff helped out our HTG10 buddy Jasminder a few weeks ago, freely giving our talents, resources and time to help him out.  Erik and Ricky helped out Kathy in Florida a few weeks ago, once again helping out a fellow member of a peer group.  Go Givers don’t even think about it, they just do it.  There is true to the rumour that Givers receive more in life, however that not why we do it, we don’t do it for the recognition, we just do it - because we care for others.

Make an example today!
