Take that first step

When was the last time you took a step into the darkness when you didn’t know where your feet were going to land?  Every morning I get up and make my way into the kitchen without any lights on, it is pretty dark in my SW Calgary home however I know exactly where I am stepping and can make way downstairs with relative ease.

Life isn’t always like this though, sometimes we must take steps into the darkness or unknown and trust that our skills, our networks, contacts and those closest to us are going to help us navigate us through the darkness or uncertainty that life has to put in our path.  Taking the first step is the critical key to success, we must take that step and make that move.  Without this step you will never move forward.

Many of us in today’s world do not take a step and elect to rather stay in our box.  Ask those successful people in today’s world that if they didn’t take that step forward and move outside the box they may have never been able to achieve the level of success or even life lessons that they have.  Everything in life happens for a reason and sometimes as leaders we need to put our trust in powers much stronger than ourselves.  We need to take that critical first step and just move forward.

Going backwards is not an option, life calls us to move forward with everything that we do.

So what stops you from going forward?  From taking that step forward in life?  Be honest with yourself, are you wanting bigger and better things, stronger relationships, more profit in your business, a stronger spiritual relationship or anything else?  Well it all starts with a strong and confident step forward and sometimes into the darkness of the unknown, maybe knowing that there is a light at the end of the tunnel or basically something beneath your feet.

Make it a great Friday and take that first step.

  1. Great post Stuart. Drives me nuts when I see people agonize over making a decision, when you know they need to just decide and move on. Easy too easy to get parked in the comfort zone - did it for years.
